Each week, we shall be looking into one of the greatest footballers in modern football and the impact they can potentially make when the World Cup commences in June.

For some players such as Andrea Pirlo, Xavi and Steven Gerrard, this could well be the last World Cup they shall experience during their playing career. All have kept their astounding level of class, though one player in particular out of the lot may very well make the most important impact this summer. That player is Didier Drogba.

At 36 years of age, the striker recently refused to extend his contract with Galatasaray and currently finds himself as a free agent, attracting interest from Juventus and other clubs around Europe.

When the player was purchased by Chelsea from Marseille in 2004, not one person could have expected the sheer impact this player would have on the club. 6 years with Chelsea included 100 goals in 226 appearances, 3 English Premier Leagues, 4 FA Cups, 2 Football League Cups, 2 Community Shields and that one cherry on his statistical cake, the Champions League in 2012.

Chelsea fans cried out his name when the player decided to part ways with the club and join Galatasaray. Respected by every single team-mate, Drogba was always described as a true professional by both colleagues and managers alike.

This being his last World Cup, the Ivorian hit man will surely want to make his mark this summer. Keeps your eyes peeled for some exquisite performances from the striker who doesn’t seem to age one bit.
